Dani and Wilfred knew exactly what they wanted. No ballroom. No generic resort backdrop. Just the ocean, the mountains, and something that actually felt like them.
They found Holualoa Inn years before they even got engaged, during a staycation search. When it came time to plan their wedding, it was the only place that made sense.
Why They Wanted Video
Dani put it simply: video captures feelings that photos can’t. She wanted to be able to go back and actually relive the day, not just look at it.
That’s the whole reason I do this as a Hawaii wedding videographer. Photos are beautiful, but your film is the only way to hear the voices, feel the energy, and remember what it actually felt like to be there.
Holualoa Inn Is One of My Favorite Venues on the Island
It sits up in the hills above Kona with sweeping views of the ocean and coffee farms stretching out below. It’s intimate, lush, and nothing like the resort properties on the coast.
If you want something that feels genuinely Hawaiian without the polished, cookie-cutter hotel aesthetic, Holualoa Inn is it.
The Details That Made This Wedding Theirs
Dani and Wilfred didn’t just get married. They celebrated. A few things that stood out:
These are the moments I live for as a filmmaker. The stuff that could only happen at this wedding, for these two people.
About Dani and Wilfred
They’re both medical residents, Dani in dermatology and Wilfred in radiology. Busy people who don’t waste time on things that don’t matter. What matters to them is shared experiences, good food, time with people they love, and being present.
You could feel that in how they moved through the day. Relaxed, genuine, and completely locked into each other.
The Proposal
Wilfred pulled it off in Santa Barbara. A full day with Dani’s mom, coffee, solvang, an ostrich farm, and finally a sunset walk on the beach. When Dani said the view looked like a movie, Wilfred said “do you know what else is like a movie?” and pulled out the ring.
Honestly, that proposal was already a short film. It made sense that they wanted their wedding treated the same way.
If you’re planning a wedding on the Big Island and you want a film that actually captures what the day felt like, I’d love to hear about it. Reach out and let’s talk through what you’re envisioning.
