BODHI

I make things cinematic, but honest and fun. Intentional, yet natural. I shoot with intuition and emotion, always watching for the in-between moments that often go unnoticed. I know when to step in with gentle guidance and when to stay quiet and let the magic unfold. I’m an artist in every frame.

On your wedding day (or weekend), I capture the details that build the story. The venue, the location, the anticipation, portraits, candid interactions, movement, and energy. I’m always watching for beautiful light and strong compositions. I also love flying the drone, and I usually grab those shots right before getting ready, when the day is calm and the light is clean.

My Creative Approach

Frequently Asked Questions

Think: unposed, relaxed, with minimal direction and light prompts. For video, I’m a quiet shadow in the background, letting the raw rhythm of the day unfold; for your photos, I step in as the Creative Director with guidance to make sure you look like your best self.  I’m obsessed with bold backlighting, candid moments, and those stunning "stop-you-in-your-tracks" portraits that feel cinematic. It’s a balance designed to give you a visual masterpiece while keeping you fully present in the moment. Letting you enjoy your wedding day without turning it into a production.

Yes. While full-day wedding collections are designed for larger celebrations, I’m always happy to create custom coverage for intimate weddings, elopements, and unique events. Simply reach out and tell me about your plans.

Nearly a decade ago, I started making short films and doing creative photoshoots for my YouTube channel. I made a really cringey short film called "The Flow", and hosted a film event in Kona. While that early work is hard to watch now, it was the 'dope' foundation that led people to start asking me to film and photograph their weddings. What began as a side hustle while working a part-time job has evolved into a ten-year obsession with cinematic wedding videography and sunset photoshoots. I’ve since traded creative bikini photoshoots with timeless bridal art, but I’m still the same artist—forever chasing the perfect Big Island sunset with my JBL speaker bumping John Mayer or Drake.

Not exactly — but your input matters. Before your wedding, you’ll complete a short questionnaire to share your story, must-have moments, and visual inspiration. I use that as creative guidance, but the final direction and music are curated by me to ensure your film and imagery carry that signature Jon Bodhi feel.

You’ll get preview photos within a week, and your full gallery and film within 12 weeks. I keep my workflow efficient, and fast delivery is something I’m genuinely proud of.

Yes. We capture clean ceremony and speech audio using discreet mics and redundant backup. Drone coverage is included when conditions and local rules allow.

RAW footage and photos are available as add-ons. While offered, they are generally not recommended, as they can feel overwhelming without experience in photo or video editing.

To reserve your date, we collect a 30% retainer and a signed agreement. The remaining balance is due two weeks before the event. Your proposal spells out all timelines, add-ons, and deliverables so everything is clear from the start.

For intimate celebrations I work alone but for larger events I always bring a second shooter. We scale the team based on coverage needs and venue logistics.

"He has such a skill in capturing the sweetest moments of your special day and turning them into a cinematic masterpiece that showcases the couple perfectly."

Why Couples Choose Jon Bodhi

Cinematic storytelling is about more than capturing beautiful images; it’s about creating imagery with depth, emotion, and narrative. Rather than simply documenting what happened, I approach each wedding with the mindset of a filmmaker, building a visual story that reflects the energy, atmosphere, and connection of the day.

As a Big Island wedding videographer sound plays a big role in that process. Discreet microphones capture your vows and toasts, and those voices become the backbone of the film. By weaving those real moments into the edit, the final piece feels less like a montage and more like a true story unfolding.

The goal is simple: to create something that feels immersive, emotional, and deeply personal. A wedding film that lets you experience your day again and notice the moments you were too busy living to see.

Most people don’t love being in front of a camera, which is why I never want your wedding day to feel like a production. It’s a day you should be able to fully live in.

My Big Island wedding photography approach is calm, quiet, and unobtrusive. I step in with gentle direction when it helps things look their best, but more importantly, I know when to step back and let real moments unfold.

No awkward poses. Just fun editorial shooting that gives you space to be yourselves while I capture the moments you’ll remember for a lifetime.

For couples who value a cohesive experience, I offer Hawaii wedding photography and filmmaking as a unified service. Having one creative team keeps the aesthetic consistent, simplifies logistics, and reduces the need for multiple vendors. The result is a wedding gallery and cinematic film that feel beautifully connected.

I don’t take myself too seriously, and I bring a light, grounding energy that helps couples relax right away. I focus on creating an atmosphere where people feel comfortable being themselves, so it feels less like working with a vendor and more like having a friend with a camera.

That connection gives me the freedom to move naturally through your wedding day, capturing the moments that matter most.
