Recently I had the joy of documenting Caitlin and Matt’s heartfelt wedding at Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection. Mauna Lani is a venue I’ve filmed at before, and every time I step onto the property I’m reminded why it’s one of my favorite wedding destinations in all of Hawaii. There’s something about the Big Island—the lava fields, the ocean breeze, the sunsets—that feels cinematic before I even press record.
That’s why I’m so excited not only to share more about Caitlin and Matt’s incredible wedding day, but also to take a closer look at what makes Mauna Lani such a magical place to say “I do.”
Mauna Lani is part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, and the property feels equal parts luxury and soul. Located along the Kohala Coast, the resort is surrounded by lava rock cliffs, white sand beaches, and palm-lined lawns that transform into golden canvases at sunset.
As a filmmaker, Mauna Lani gives me endless possibilities—drone shots sweeping over the coastline, intimate portraits framed by lush greenery, vows exchanged as waves roll in just a few feet away. It’s the kind of venue where every angle tells a story.
Caitlin + Matt’s Love Story
These two are no strangers to storytelling. Both are accomplished performers, recently seen on Broadway in The Phantom of the Opera. Their proposal was just as memorable: what started as a simple photo shoot along the rugged coast of South Kona turned into a quiet, beautiful moment when Matt surprised Caitlin with the question that changed everything.
Fast forward to their wedding at Mauna Lani—a day filled with intention, artistry, and pure joy.
Photographs capture the look of a wedding. Films capture the feeling. The tremble in your voice during vows. The sound of laughter echoing across the dance floor. The way the sky shifted as you kissed at sunset.
That’s why I believe in what I do. A wedding film gives you a way to step back into your day—not just remember it, but relive it.

Once the sun dipped behind the horizon, the celebration truly began. Family and friends filled the dance floor, music poured into the night, and the air buzzed with connection and joy.
For me, those are the moments I live for as a filmmaker—the raw, unfiltered joy that reminds you why weddings matter. Caitlin and Matt’s day was filled with them.
It’s hard to imagine a more fitting setting for Caitlin and Matt’s story than Mauna Lani. Their wedding was a blend of love, artistry, tradition, and pure celebration—all against one of the most breathtaking backdrops Hawaii has to offer.
It was more than a wedding. It was a story still unfolding. And I feel grateful to have been there to capture it.
